Here is a retro inspired knitting pattern I designed that is a fun knit to make!

SKILL LEVEL - INTERMEDIATE

KNITTING SWEATER CONSTRUCTION

This sweater is knitted in the round from the bottom up with a yoke design that has raglan shaping for the decreases at the arms. The sleeves and part of the yoke are knitted using the magic loop method when fewer stitches are on the needle.

I would suggest this knitting pattern is best suited for knitters who have had some experience of knitting in the round and have some experience of joining the body to the sleeves and knitting a yoke.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

Mrs Moon Plump DK, 80% Superfine Sustainable Merino/20% Baby Alpaca (115m per 50g)

Shades  used:

3[3:3:3:3][3:4:4:4:4][5:5:5:5:5] x 50g balls in Cherry Pie

2[2:2:2:2][2:3:3:3:3][4:4:4:4:4] x 50g balls in Fondant Fancy

2[2:2:2:2][2:3:3:3:3][4:4:4:4:4] x 50g balls in Raspberry Ripple

2[2:2:2:2][2:3:3:3:3][4:4:4:4:4] x 50g balls in Marmalade

2[2:2:2:2][2:3:3:3:3][4:4:4:4:4] x 50g balls in Creme Caramel

3.75mm and 4.5mm circular knitting needles

Stitch holders

4 x Safety Pins (for placing stitches on at the underarms whilst knitting the yoke)

4 x Stitch markers (ideally a different one to mark the beginning of the round)

Row counter

TENSION

Pattern Stitch

Blocked: 24 sts and 33 rnds to 10cm (4in) over Pattern Stitch worked in the round using 4.5mm needles.

Unblocked: 20 sts and 28 rows to 10cm (4in) over Stocking Stitch using 4.5mm needles.

Blocked: 19 sts and 28 rows to 10cm (4in) over Stocking Stitch using 4.5mm needles.
